The other day I was sitting and chatting with my wife while she was doing a sudoku. I was going on and on about how much of a “fanboy” I am of the first four chapters of Genesis.
“I could spend the rest of my life studying just these four verses,” I stated with a smile. “I could write a whole book on Genesis.”
Ultimately it wasn’t too surprising to her, as I’m certain this isn’t too surprising to anyone who has been reading this blog for long. It’s not surprising at all to anyone who has heard me talk about spiritual matters at much length. I am very blatant in stating that all of my theology starts in the Garden. For others it starts at the birth of Jesus, and that’s fine, but the New Testament is only a part of the story. It’s not even the longest part of the overall story. What happens there establishes God’s relationship to creation, and specifically to man.
Last month I had finished Jordan Peterson’s podcast lectures on Genesis which blew my mind even farther than it had already been blown by the book. But there is so much more to say, so much more that I, with my slightly cracked mirror perspective, could relate that seems unique and worthwhile to say.
So, there I was telling my wife I could write a book, and she looked up from her sudoku and lovingly said, “So, do it then.”
As a result, a new project is emerging under the “Finding Narnia” banner that I am calling “The Genesis Diaries”.
I had considered starting “The Genesis Diaries” under its own site, but then I was reflecting that it still has the same purpose as “Finding Narnia”; inspiring wonder in the LORD as well as seeing ourselves and Reality rightly.
“Finding Narnia” will still continue as normal, Thursdays when possible, but interspersed will be my thoughts on what I’m reading in Genesis. I have a LOT to say there, and I hope you find it worthwhile.
